Remembrance

Remembrance

I sit on the sea shore in the setting sun
I look around me
No, the world is the same place it has always been
Just devoid of the interest it used to hold.

In every tree, in every cloud
I see our resemblance
The entire world is a striking memorandum
That those glorious days existed and
That we have lost it.

The sweetest of all lullabies reaches my ears,
The chirping of birds, swishing of leaves and roaring of waves
And the sweet incandescent light
As if they try to calm me
But I find it hard to.

I close my eyes and see your reflection
And the ever-lasting memories,
I wish I didn't remember
And the tears roll down my cheeks.

There was a time when we ruled,
Now we are but meek spectators
watching the world fly by
Just sitting back and resenting.

The time we've lost, can't get back,
The world we knew, won't come back,
The life we had, won't be ours again,
The wounds inflicted won't ever get away.

The sun has set, darkness fills my eyes
But my soul reveals the truth,
And I wrap my heart with that hope
Which is uttered by poets time and again,
-If winter comes can spring be far behind?
